The Basics: 

Founded in 1950, the AWANA program has been adopted by churches all over the world and has been an important part of the children’s ministry here at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church (JABC) for several years. 

JABC’s AWANA program consists of three clubs:  Cubbies (3 and 4-year olds), Sparks (K-2nd grade), and T&T (3rd –6th grade).  Each club is age-specific with the emphasis on scripture memorization, comprehension and application.  The Sparks and T&T club nights are divided into three segments:  Game Time, Handbook Time, and Council (large group) Time.  Each segment helps to reinforce Biblical truths in a fun and exciting way.  Clubbers work through their handbooks by memorizing scripture, answering questions, and completing projects.  As they work through the handbooks, clubbers can earn a uniform and various patches and pins that display that clubber’s accomplishments. 

The program encourages kids to learn more about God’s Word by challenging them to set goals and experience the reward of accomplishing those goals.
